Quick Bites

  • Prince William County’s Data Center Tax Revenue Surges 68% to $280M

Prince William County's data center tax revenue surged 68% in tax year 2024, reaching $280.2 million. The increase was driven by a hike in the computer and peripheral equipment (C&P) tax, which rose from $2.15 to $3.70 per $100 of assessed value, adding $57.5 million in revenue. Officials plan to raise the tax further to $4.15 in 2025 while narrowing its focus to data centers. Real estate taxes from these facilities also grew significantly, reaching $130.7 million. Despite the gains, the county's revenue remains far below Loudoun County’s projected $895 million. The Board of Supervisors will finalize its nearly $2 billion budget on April 22. (WTOP)

  • Temporary Chlorine Switch Ahead: Water System Flushing Set for Spring

Prince William Water will begin its annual water system flushing on March 24, running through mid-May. This maintenance process helps clear out accumulated sediments and minerals in the pipes. Water providers will temporarily switch disinfectants to free chlorine, which may result in a slight chlorine smell or brief cloudiness in tap water.
