  • County Acquires 1819 Ned Distiller House to Honor Local History

    Prince William County has approved the $1.295 million purchase of the Ned Distiller House, an 1819 home believed to be the first in Virginia bought by a formerly enslaved individual. Located in Gainesville, the property will undergo restoration to preserve its historic significance. Alongside the house, the county is acquiring the adjacent Ashe Property, further highlighting its commitment to preserving local African American history. (Inside NoVa)

  • New Turf and Infrastructure Coming to Hellwig Soccer Fields

    Prince William County has begun upgrades to two soccer fields at George Hellwig Memorial Park. Field 8 will receive new synthetic turf, while field 3 will be converted from grass to synthetic turf with additional enhancements, including an underground stormwater system, walkways, fencing, and netting. The project is set to be completed by March 2025. (PWCVA.gov)
