  The Prince William Board of County Supervisors approved the rezoning of 80 acres for the 350-home Thomas Farm at Bristow Station development west of Manassas. Concerns over density, traffic, and school overcrowding dominated the discussion, with residents opposing a proposed road connector to New Bristow Village. Brentsville Supervisor Tom Gordy removed the connector from the plan and emphasized the need for housing diversity. Despite last-minute changes, the board voted 6-2 in favor of the project, which will include affordable units, open spaces, and recreational amenities. (InsideNoVa)

• Virginia Recognizes Prince William County Police for Anti-Theft Efforts

  The Prince William County Police Department received the top award in Virginia’s HEAT program for its efforts to prevent auto theft, recognizing departments serving populations over 100,000. Other finalists included Henrico and Newport News police. The HEAT initiative, established in 1992, educates residents and law enforcement on vehicle theft prevention. (CBS19)
